1. International Jazz Day is celebrated on 30 April. The day aims to create awareness around the world of the virtues of jazz as a force of peace, unity, dialogue, and enhanced cooperation among people, and an educational tool. International Jazz Day 2020 is the ninth year celebration of International Jazz Day. Jazz: The musical form of Jazz was developed by African Americans.

2. Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor passed away in Mumbai on 30 April. He died at the age of 67. He died due to ill health. The actor was admitted to the Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital. Rishi was diagnosed with cancer in 2018.  Rishi Kapoor entered the Indian cinema scene with his first film Mera Naam Joker. He was last seen in the web series The Body on Netflix.

3. Ayushman Bharat Diwas is celebrated on 30 April. The day aims to promote affordable medical facilities in remote areas of the country based on the Socio-Economic Caste Census database. It will also promote health and wellness and provide insurance benefits to the poor. 

4. International Guide Dog Day is celebrated on 29 April 2020. The day is celebrated every year on the last Wednesday of April. This day aims to honour the importance of a guide dog that is in the life of a person who is blind or visually impaired.

5. CSIR-Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (CMERI) has developed HCARD (Hospital Care Assistive Robotic Device). The device can help frontline healthcare workers in maintaining physical distance from those infected by a coronavirus..

6. Shiv Das Meena, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, has been appointed as the Chairman and Managing Director, Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO) for six months.

7.To help the government fight against COVID-19, the automobile company Suzuki has developed low-cost ventilators.

8. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy - launched a project called ‘Jagananna Vidya Deevena’. Under this scheme, reimbursement fee of all students in the state for the coming academic year will be credited to their mother's account.

9. Grammy-nominated famous gospel singer Troy Sneed dies of corona virus.

10. India loses hosting rights to the 2021 Men's World Boxing Championships. The International Boxing Association (AIBA) canceled the agreement signed by India in 2017. India will also have to pay a fine of $500.

11. Freedom fighter Hema Bharali dies in Guwahati aged 101; won Padma Shri in 2005 and National Communal Harmony Award in 2006

12. Former India football captain Chuni Goswami passed away in Kolkata after a prolonged illness. Chuni Goswami was the most successful Indian football captain ever and under his captaincy, India won the gold medal in 1962 Asian Games, finished runners-up in 1964 Asian Cup.
